12 Quick Cards Using the Cricut

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I am so thrilled with all the sweet comments I have received about my first video! Thank you! I really appreciate it! And of course, it also charged me up to make another one! So, here’s episode 2 - 12 Quick Cards Using the Cricut! A couple of things first before you view the video….I created two .pdf files to help you make your 12 cards quickly and painlessly! One file is a set of instructions and the other is a file of the “thanks” sentiment that fits precisely in the scrolly frame above. I made these so you could quickly print out the sentiments, cut them using the AutoFill feature on the Cricut Expression and be on your way making your 12 cards super quick! Click below to download the instructions and the “thanks” sentiment .pdf. Secondly, the example on the video does not use the same paper as on the instruction sheet. I had already cut the paper before I took photos explaining the process so I had to substitute papers. Same concept, though, and the paper is also from the Die Cuts With A View Spring Glitter Stack. Finally, something happens funny at the end that I decided to keep in - mainly because I had already taped it many times and kept getting interrupted, losing things, etc. Hopefully, you will find it funny also. I was certainly surprised! If you have any ideas for other videos you would like to see, let me know! Thanks!

Looking for cool business cards? Look no further…

It’s time to get new business cards since I am going to the Great American Scrapbook Convention next week and would love to have some on hand with my blog info. So, I’ve been on a quest for some funky, unusual cards. I had heard about Vista Print and their “free” cards, since they only charge shipping and handling, and although they have some cute designs, I wanted something a little different. This led to numerous internet searches, where I found some really cool business cards that I just loved. However, when the card is transparent, acrylic, made from metal and embossed, etc., it costs more than I really wanted to spend…ha ha! They had cards that were actually chocolate! Some came with a cookie! There were pop up cards, origami cards, cards embossed on pieces of ruler, and on and on. So, if you want to see some really funky, truly artistic cards, head over to awesome business cards , 52 More Unique Business Cards , and Smashing Magazines Super cool business cards . Fooliing around looking at these business cards made me wonder if I am spending too much time on the internet… BUT on to the task at hand: I finally found some great sites for funky yet reasonably priced business cards that I want to share with you so you don’t spend hours searching, searching, searching. So, here we go: 1) Zazzle.com - A site like Cafe Press where people can upload their designs and make a slew of different products. This weekend, through Monday, they are running sale pricing so the business cards were HALF OFF. Click HERE to see the style I chose (modern monogram business cards - the pink and green one in the second row). But they have tons of different designs - I mean TONS! There are some cool swirly, Heidi Swappish ones (see HERE ), this outline of a bird that is so popular today (click HERE ), some flowery/garden ones (see HERE and HERE ) and even just plain artistic ones (see HERE ). Enter the coupon code MEMORIALSALE in the coupon section to get the lower pricing, which runs through midnight Monday/tonight. 2) Another great site was Streetcards with over 400 funky designs to choose from, with another possibility of uploading your own designs. 3) More funky cards can be found Moo.com , which not only has these predesigned cards, but you can also create a slew of different cards using your own photos or those you find on flicker as one side of the card. They also offer a half business card size called mini card, which is starting to get more popular. This is a fun site to look around on and they even offer a set of 10 free business cards. Look HERE for that offer. 4) Finally, an old standby in the printing world, Colorful Images, has recently released some new, very up to date designs. Some of these are really fabulous! Click HERE , HERE , HERE AND HERE to see those! The great thing about ordering from here is that if really like the business cards, you can also get the same design on address labels, shipping labels, pads, etc.
